Frequently Asked Questions
(Some of these you’ve probably wondered, some of them you haven’t, and some are just here because I wanted to talk about it.)
Ordering & Shipping
1. When will my order ship?
I aim to ship all orders within one week of purchase. That’s my sweet spot: I’m still organized, the jars are labeled, and my shipping tape isn’t hiding under a pile of bubble wrap. But life happens. I work alone, and every slime is handmade in my Minneapolis home. Sometimes that means delays if the glue delivery runs late, a batch demands “just one more” tweak, or Minnesota weather decides the mail trucks should take a day off.
If it’s been two weeks and you haven’t seen tracking, that’s the time to message me. Before then, trust the process — and picture your slime being pampered like it’s at a luxury retreat before making its journey to you.
2. Why does shipping cost so much?
Because postal carriers are apparently under the impression that my slimes are lined with diamonds. USPS, UPS, FedEx — they all charge rates that make me wince. I already cover part of your shipping cost out of my own pocket, so you don’t see the full, horrifying number they’d love to charge you. If I didn’t, you might close your browser in shock.
So no, I’m not overcharging you. Yes, I wish it were cheaper. And yes, I too dream of a world where we can teleport slime to your doorstep for free.
3. Do you reuse shipping boxes?
Absolutely — loudly and proudly. It’s better for the planet, helps keep your shipping costs lower, and frankly, reused boxes have character. Your slime might arrive in packaging that once held books, art supplies, or a suspiciously large quantity of bubble wrap from someone else’s online order.
Slime isn’t a zero-waste craft — I go through gallons of glue, tons of jars, and enough stickers to wallpaper my house — so reusing what I can is one way I balance that out. And if you’re really lucky, your reused box will have a mysterious history that adds to your unboxing experience.
4. Do you ship internationally?
Not yet — and not for lack of wanting to. I’d love for Emo Slimes to travel the globe, but the combination of steep international rates, unpredictable customs rules, and the “what’s this jar of goo?” problem at border inspections makes it tricky.
I am working on solutions. That might mean partnering with international sellers, setting up distribution hubs, or finding a way to consolidate orders to lower costs. My goal is to one day ship worldwide without asking you to pay the equivalent of a secondhand car for postage.
5. How do I know when you restock?
If you want to know exactly when a restock is coming, follow me on Instagram, TikTok, or sign up for my email list. Those are where I post the official announcements, teaser photos, and sometimes cryptic countdowns that may or may not feature curated playlists.
If you prefer chaos, just refresh my site every day and hope for the best. Honestly? I admire that energy — it’s very on-brand.
Slime Care & Ingredients
6. What glues do you use?
A lot. And not just different types — even different brands of the same type can behave completely differently. I’ve worked with Elmer’s, Michaels store brand, Titebond, and other specialty glues in white, clear, wood, and other variations. Each one has quirks: some give a glossy, stretchy base, others make thicker, more sculptable slime.
I mix them together like a mad scientist until I get exactly the texture and stretch I want. Do I have Korean glue yet? No — but I’m hunting for it like it’s the holy grail of slime-making.
7. What is slime made of?
At its simplest: glue, water, borax, and glycerin. That’s the skeleton. From there, I add all sorts of things to create different textures, looks, and scents — food coloring, skin-safe fragrance oils, clays, foams, charms, beads, and more.
Each listing tells you exactly what’s in that specific slime. That way you know what you’re getting, and I can recreate it months later if it becomes a fan favorite.
8. What’s in the slime I just bought?
Check the product listing — I always include details on the colors, scents, textures, and any add-ins. If you closed the page, you can message me and I’ll tell you… but if your message is just “what’s in my slime?” with no other context, I might have to guess based purely on vibes.
9. How do I make activator?
Boil 1 quart of water, add ½ cup borax, stir until it’s fully dissolved, and let it cool. Store it in a temperature-safe glass container. When you use it, add tiny amounts at a time, kneading it in until you get the texture you want.
Go slow — it’s much easier to fix a slime that’s too sticky than to rescue one that’s overactivated and stiff as a brick.
10. How long does slime last?
Months, if you take care of it — sometimes over a year. But slime changes over time: it might get stickier, melt, or stiffen a little. That’s normal. It’s not “spoiled,” it just needs a little maintenance now and then to get back to its best self.
11. How should I store my slime?
Keep it in its airtight container, away from heat and sunlight. Don’t leave it in a hot car, on a sunny windowsill, or in your bag all day. Slime likes to be cool, comfortable, and left alone until you’re ready to play.
12. Help! My slime is sticky.
Normal. Add activator a drop at a time, knead it in, and repeat until it’s the texture you like. Resist the urge to dump in a bunch — you can’t take activator out once it’s in.
13. Help! My slime is stiff.
Also normal. Add a drop or two of glycerin or unscented lotion, knead, and repeat until soft. Sometimes just playing with it for a few minutes will loosen it right up.
14. Is slime safe?
For most people, yes — as long as you don’t eat it, rub it in your eyes, or try to use it as a skincare product (please don’t). Keep it away from pets and kids without supervision, and always wash your hands after playing.
15. How do I get slime out of fabric?
White vinegar. Pour it directly on the slime, work it in, rinse, and repeat if needed. Most slimes dissolve right out like they were never there — unlike glitter, which is forever.
16. How do I get slime out of hair?
You’ve got options:
- Conditioner method: Drench the spot in conditioner and gently work the slime out with your fingers or a wide-tooth comb.
- Oil method: Olive oil or coconut oil works wonders. Massage it in, rinse with warm water, then shampoo.
- Vinegar method: Diluted vinegar works like a charm, but go light so you don’t smell like a salad all day.
Restocks, Collections & Custom Work
17. When will my favorite slime come back?
Only Immortal Spell is permanent. Everything else is more like a limited-run album drop — here for a moment, then gone. If a slime gets enough love, it might return in a Bestseller collection or as an upgraded “glow-up” version.
The Slime Archive helps here: if enough people stalk or talk about a past slime, I’ll notice. The Archive also recommends similar current textures, so you can find a rebound slime while you wait.
18. Why don’t you restock on a set schedule?
Because I thrive on chaos. Inspiration doesn’t clock in, and forcing a monthly drop just for the sake of it would mean putting out collections I’m not in love with.
I prefer my restocks to feel like events — hyped, teased, and worth the wait. Predictable schedules are for grocery stores.
19. Do you take custom orders?
Yes, but it depends on my workload. I work alone, so every jar I make takes time and focus. If your idea excites me and I have room in my schedule, I’ll do it. If I can’t, I’ll tell you straight up instead of leaving you hanging.
The best way to improve your chances? Reach out early and give me enough time to plan, source, and test.
20. Do you do wholesale?
Not currently — but I love collaborations. Wholesale requires scale and space I don’t have yet, but working with other shops and artists to make something unique? Always on the table.
21. Do you make bulk orders for parties or events?
Yes, with enough notice. Even if all jars are the same slime, I’m still handmaking every batch — mixing, scenting, coloring, labeling, and packaging them myself. That takes time.
Bulk orders can be themed with your event’s colors, scents, or extras. I’ve done everything from party favors to wedding gifts. The earlier you ask, the better the result.
The Extras
22. What comes with my order?
Your order includes:
- Your slime(s)
- Any collection extras from that drop
- An Emo Slimes wristband
- A bottle of activator
- A bottle of glycerin
- Emo stickers (skulls, roses, broken hearts)
- A bonus slime sample
- A slime care card
- An Emo Slimes postcard (until I change it up)
Everything’s wrapped like a gift from your emo best friend — because you deserve that.
23. In what ways do you support the slime community?
I’m community-first, always. That means I’m up for collaborations, I answer questions from small shop owners, and I share other makers’ work on my social media.
I’m also a moderator for r/slime, which means I spend time keeping the biggest slime space on the internet safe, fun, and welcoming. Sometimes that’s removing spam, sometimes it’s promoting smaller creators, and sometimes it’s breaking up actual slime drama (yes, it exists).
24. How can I get slime for cheap?
Three main ways:
- Dark Memory Bags — discounted mystery slimes from overstock or retired designs.
- Immortal Spell collection — my permanent lower-cost line.
- Be nice — genuinely nice. Send me a kind message or make a sweet public post, and I might send you a discount code. No guarantees, but kindness often comes back around.
25. Are you really this dramatic in real life?
Yes. If anything, this is the restrained version. I’ve been known to narrate glue pours like they’re epic scenes in a movie and describe scent blends with the seriousness of a wine critic.
When I say Emo Slimes is my art, I mean it. The drama is part of the experience — for both of us.
